This is underestimated by job seekers. And I’m not talking about soft skills.
Imagine you want to find a job as an international sales representative. We take for granted that you write everything you can do from a linguistic standpoint, everything you have learned, certifications and past experiences. But now think about what your day-to-day work would be—it would be interacting with international clients. However, sometimes, especially in smaller companies, this also means updating CRMs, issuing invoices, checking warehouse availability, and doing cost analyses and quotes on the fly.
I’m writing this to say that core competencies must also be highlighted. Knowing how to use a CRM, issue an invoice, or having previously used any ERP gives you that competitive advantage that makes the recruiter see you as “experienced,” but in a meaningful and relevant way for the position you are applying to. And this is added value that should not be overlooked.
